What are the difficulties in anti-corrosion construction of storage tanks

1. Fencing protection

Generally speaking, the work of anti-corrosion storage tanks is mostly carried out outdoors, so wind and sand can be relatively large. Therefore, fences should be set up around them, and the coating operation should be located at the upper air outlet and sandblasting operation should be set at the lower air outlet to reduce the impact of wind and sand. The coating area and sandblasting operation time should be staggered to avoid sandblasting operation affecting the quality of painting.

2. Ventilation is required for operations inside the tank

When carrying out construction work inside the tank, ventilation should be maintained. If ventilation is poor, forced ventilation measures should be taken.

3. Temperature control

The temperature of the steel surface during the painting operation should be 3 ℃ higher than the dew point temperature on site, and should not exceed 50 ℃. Usually, the temperature of steel plates for outdoor work in summer exceeds 50 ℃. If the surface temperature of the steel is too high, bubbles will appear in the paint film, leading to a decrease in adhesion. If the temperature is too low, conventional coatings are prone to freezing of the paint film and are not easy to cure.

4. Impact of humidity

Construction work shall not be carried out when the air humidity is greater than 85% or in weather such as rain, snow, or heavy fog. There should be no dewdrops on the surface of the steel during painting.
